Just a heads up guys.

I am talking to the group that runs the hotel, after an unsatisfactory response from the hotel directly. I'll keep you posted as to he outcome smile

Basically the hotel are charging PH a premium for block-booking the entire hotel rather than a discount.

We have got adiscount over the standard rate of £156, but i'm trying to get at least a gesture from them considering the feedback here.

In the meantime, we have got some great plans for the night and will forge ahead. Any rate changes will be passed on.

yikes When do they actually charge/get that? laugh Have yet to see that on their rates when playing with potential room bookings wink

Do Haymarket have a marketing/events dept that you can utilise to assist with this Paul? It 'might' throw some 'weight' if they realise just how 'big' a customer they are potentially upsetting here hehe

PistonHeads - Size matters biggrin

We are using them, but actually Garlick is throwing his weight behind this as he's far better at articulating the mood of the PH massive on stuff like this. The £156 is the rate card price for the hotel room. I'm not convinced you'd ever have to pay it either, but technically this is the published rate.

As I understand it part of the problem is that the hotel tends to be a weekend getaway venue. By booking for Saturday night we're depriving them of most of their Friday night trade, and whilst we've tried to convince them that we'll be buying enough of the black stuff to pay for the whole of the following week too, they're not buying it yet..

As Garlick says, any rate reduction will be passed on, but we're not planning to let it spoil the fun and we're certain it'll be a blimming cracking night out.

That's pretty much how I'm playing it too, inasmuch as any refund will be very welcome in these lean times, but I'm not going to let it spoil the funand intent to have a "blimming cracking" time regardless.

Extra beer money in the form of a rate reduction would be very welcome though smile

Based on what the Fri & Sat are available for the weekend before/after (£45 & £80), I think they have covered their backsides on the Friday night trade they 'may' lose, on the rate we are paying for one night.

Is it worthwhile getting some of our members to send them copies of last years bar bills? hehe IIRC someones was (or nearly) 4 figures?

Personally I'd rather the hotel room was £115 and the bar was a reasonable price.

If its £115 for the room and £8 for a large scotch and coke (again) there is going to be trouble.
