This is the bit I hate.

Am I allowed to do smart black trousers, nice top and dinner jacket?

nono black tie is a dress code... women should wear either a full length gown, or cocktail dress that is half way between knee and ankle length...

Looking at the outfits from previous years, it is not enforced smile Besides, trousers are better for Becca and who will, in all honesty, notice?

[mutters about declining social standards]

Everyone goes on about how it's Black Tie, when it's not. Might as well be jeans or causal slacks & pie...

Got mine, full length black slinky number. Just need to find a decent re-inforced strapless bra.

Becca, I've been to quite a few do's where women have worn the full tux thing, I have always thought it a bit odd,(Only because I love dressing up for any occasion.) but each to their own, and if you feel more comfortable in it, then why not.

I'm in complete agreement with you, to me Black Tie means a ballgown, not even a cocktail dress, but for Becca I'll make the exception, although only because it would be bloody uncomfortable to wear a ballgown in a wheelchair.
