SHOES! Help needed!
Discussion
Ok - this has to be a first for me...
I'm having a shoe crisis.
Ok, finished laughing? Good.
Not being the suit-wearing type I have, at present, only one pair of 'good' shoes and to be frank they're getting a little tired - not knackered, just in need of retirement. This week I've been trying to find a suitable pair to replace them, but seeing as I have very narrow feet I find it very hard to find any that fits properly, to the point where I will wear whatever I have until it falls apart and I'm forced to buy something new.
But today I tried on a very nice pair of Church's and they fit rather well (not perfectly, that ain't gonna happen unless I go bespoke). The dilemma is that a) they're bloody expensive, and b) they're rarely get used. But they're very well made, in a classic design and should last forever. I could go and pick them up before heading down to BTap, or I could just wear my old ones and save myself a fair wedge of cash. I'm not into fashion or clothes and all that, but I do appreciate well made, quality items.
Oh, what to do...?
God, I'm pathetic.
Over to you lot.

I wish I had last year - decided it would be a bad idea with everyone bouncing around the dancefloor in shoes. Instead I got to drive home barefoot as I had massive blisters and couldn't actually get my shoes on!

Hmmm, persuasive argument there...

Come back as good as new when I have them repaired. I also have a pair of Barkers that are pretty good as a cheaper alternative.
I tried on many others (Barkers may have been in there!), but they didn't fit my skinny feet

I have the opposite problem actually. difference is Churches custom grade come in 3 or 4 width fittings depending on the model. The "last" number is written inside the shoe so it goes back on the same one when you return itfor repair.
Barkers do do different width fittings or at least they used to not sure if this is still the case
Good luck anyway

Just go to a normal shoe shop and buy a normal pair of shoes. They won't be incredibly comfortable, and they won't last forever, and they won't cost your last months mortgage, but NO-ONE at the party will know the difference.
I think the point is being missed here: I can't get a 'normal' pair of shoes to fit me Well, I could probably trek around every shoe shop in town trying on every pair they have and eventually find one, which I don't like, that fit Most shoes shops stock mass produced stuff in one width fitting only, which is far too wide. I wouldn't normally consider buying such expensive shoes but it was nice to find a pair that actually fit for a change! Hence the dilemma

Trying every shoeshop wouldnt do you much good - they are pretty much all owned by the same company (well 2 companies iirc) so you just end up looking at exactly the same stock...
Get something that fits!
As for the rest I am just going to ignore all those comments...

judas said:Not a fan of chruches myself but there is no denying they are very high quality and will last forever, so if you've seen a pair you like, go for it as it sounds like you'll be the DustyC of shoes otherwise!
