Crossflow static timing?
Discussion
Hi,
Finally got around to checking my static timing. Seems very high. Former owner had it set high to try to get it emissions passed and never re-set it. Looks like the mechanical advance mechanism works pretty good (at least visually)
Static looked like over 14 degrees.
I'm going to dial it back a bit I think.
What are the symptoms of excessive advance?
After I verify TDC...
what should I set it for a 1700cc super sprint? I run premium gas, but it is generally a lower octane than the UK I think.

I used to set my Roger King built 155 for power as Roger describes but that had the right distributor.
