I noticed yesterdat evening that my brake lights aren't working. I've checked the fuse and that seems ok. Next thing I'm going to check this evening is the bulbs, but I would have thought it unlikely both would have blown? (They were both working a couple of weeks ago).

If it's not the bulbs, what should I be looking at next??

Thanks,
Mark

Probably the brake light switch, the innards have a habit of falling apart, easily reassembled, just open switch with care and all will be revealed.

It's under the pedalbox cover.

I found that my brake lights weren't working as the switch position needed to be adjusted. Simple enough to do. And as had been said, its just a case of removing the pedal box cover to reveal all.

That's assuming that he doesn't have an older 7 which doesn't have the brake light switch that you're all talking about. My 7 of '93 vintage has a hydraulic switch.........

Hi Mark. My brake lights stopped working this weekend too. I took the switch out from the pedal box, as suggestted above, and disassembled it only to find one of the terminals was dirty. Gave it a quick clean and popped it back together and all was well again. A search on blatchat suggessted that a) the switches are cr@p and fail all the time, and b) the terminals often soot over from the arcing of the switch when activated. Give it a try and failing that check you earth and fuse.

When you open the back of the switch watch out for the little spring inside
