Hello to all.

Now that the snow and salt are off the roads, its time to come out of hibernation and introduce my new pride and joy. OK, its only a lowly live axle Supersprint, but WOW, what a priviledge to own her.

I live in Ontario, Canada. We have draconian laws here that prohibit the ownership of most any low volume manufactured vehicles. However a loop hole remains. If you manage to import a 15 year or older car you are "in".

My Caterham was imported from Japan along with a handful of other RHD cars. Getting her emissions compliant was a bit of a slog, but we made it.

So far, I have driven about 2000 miles. Couple of interesting observations:

- Wallflowers need not apply. These cars are guaranteed to make everyone curious!
- Chunky friends don't get rides. Most of my fellow 40+ year old friends seem to have put on too much weight to fit in my car. At least my lovely wife still fits. My 4 and 9 years olds love it!

Couple of near term changes, which I will post seperate threads for feedback:

- change the old tires from 185/70/13 to 185/60/13 RA1s
- fix a broken motor mount
- maybe look for some brooklands

MOST OF ALL DRIVE IT!

Very nice indeed. Great to hear you are flying the flag so far a way and generating such interest.

Takes me back to my first Supersprint I owned in Sweden. Quiet roads and a very rare car there - great pals in the Östgöta Sportvagnsklubb too. We used to do track evenings at Mantorp park in the long summer evenings.

Nearly always when filling up someone would come over and ask or just enjoying looking at so different a machine.

Nice! Whereabouts in Ontario? I'm in Oakville and have seen a 7 once and I only caught a glance, I looked into importing my ex-Academy car and gave up very quickly banghead

Hurontario & Lakeshore

Head out Sunday to the Ancaster British Car Fleamarket and you will probably see mine (weather permitting).

I think other members of the Lotus Club will likely show up.

I paid $24K CDN for mine thru Gentry Lane Motors in Toronto. They are a rare bird for sure. Keep an eye out in these forums and perhaps the right car will come up for sale in the US. Good luck and hope to meet you some day to take you for a grin inducing ride.

When I bought a Porsche and imported it from Florida in 08' I used these guys and they took care of all the paperwork and shipping. They did a great job:

Hello mate,

Could well be as Port credit close by - all you need to do is find that Griff owner and I may start believing you again tongue out
