Who can confirm that the new BMW solves the diff noise problem on deceleration in 6th gear ??
Anybody tested a car with BMW diff onboard ?

Thanks !

you must have a good diff if yours only grinds on deceleration in 6th. Mine does it in every gear!

Only really annoying in 6th, but in the other gears also a little bit, you are right.

Its not a caterham but i'm building a kit car with m3 running gear, the diff seems silent at all speeds.

The only penalty is the extra weight of the case however its in the right place!

They will never be silent, given where they are, but they are lots better.

With the LSD, but as mentioned I also have the sequential box so difficult to tell if the whining is the diff or the gearbox biggrin

Mmmm...I wonder if there's any way to put some extra braketry on that carrier, for mounting some brake callipers, and mount some disc bells between the drive shaft flanges. idea
That would be a big saving in unsprung wieght off the De-Dion tube.

I'm sure that cast iron case and carrier wieghs loads more than the alloy Sierra diff case.
I wonder why Caterham switched? Quaife are now making thier own new Sierra castings, so no shortage. Maybe it's the bean counters again?

I do not wonder why they switched: I'm on my second "Made by Quaife" diff in only 4.000km on my 2010 R300

The noise when lifting the throttle in 5 or 6th is like a coffee beans grinder, driving down a mountain is a real pain.

I had another Seven in the past and I know that the diff is always a bit present,...but here...it takes 50% away of the joy to drive.

Next switch will be definitely for a BMW unit.
