New BMW Diff: Anyone can now confirm it is really silent ??
Discussion
Mmmm...I wonder if there's any way to put some extra braketry on that carrier, for mounting some brake callipers, and mount some disc bells between the drive shaft flanges.
That would be a big saving in unsprung wieght off the De-Dion tube.
I'm sure that cast iron case and carrier wieghs loads more than the alloy Sierra diff case.
I wonder why Caterham switched? Quaife are now making thier own new Sierra castings, so no shortage. Maybe it's the bean counters again?

I do not wonder why they switched: I'm on my second "Made by Quaife" diff in only 4.000km on my 2010 R300
The noise when lifting the throttle in 5 or 6th is like a coffee beans grinder, driving down a mountain is a real pain.
I had another Seven in the past and I know that the diff is always a bit present,...but here...it takes 50% away of the joy to drive.
Next switch will be definitely for a BMW unit.
