Hi!, does anybody know wehere to get some mirrors to fit in my door hinges (So i can remove doors but still have mirrors!) don't want to fit aero screen as we use it a lot and need to be able to pop the lid up! smile
While i'm asking....anybody recommend the 'soft bits for sevens' roofs?
Quite like the look of the smaller roof with no back windw etc...
Thanks,
Mike.

Soft Bits for Sevens generally get very good reviews. Their half-hood is very good.

Someone else will be able to recommend the mirrors.

You can get mirrors that fit onto the windscreen stanchions. It does stop the door from opening fully onto the bonnet but far better then the door mounted ones as they don't wobble.

I lost those a million times if not more. Sometimes I wasn't carefull and passengers simply did not know. But if you use those with the doors in place and it swoops open because of the wind it's the end of the mirror.

Never happened to me at all so it must be one of those things I guess.
I do drive without the doors off in summer though so that does help maintain their existence somewhatbiggrin

Thanks for your help!!
They look really nice but not really what i am after.
I have seen them on other Caterhams where they are in the Door Hinge....?!

If i went for the ones in the link, i won't be able to remove them when i put my doors on (which are already fitted with mirrors..) which i would like to do ocassionally.
Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Mike.

There is no worse experience in life than driving a Caterham at speed with the doors off and a windscreen fitted.

Unless you're a sexual fetishist that enjoys depriving yourself of breath whilst trying to enjoy yourself.

I think I know what you're after. Someone over on Blatchat made up a set of brackets that allow the mounting of a mirror on the door hinges.

See here and here to see if it's what you've seen.

Are there any other options?

I'd rather they didn't get in the way if you put the doors on, and the others look a bit err, homemade!

You could mount some wing mirrors (rather than door mirrors), not sure it's a good idea though.

Or put them at the top corner of the windscreen like the Jag F-Type concept.

You could take the mirrors off your doors. I find the field of vision in the pillar mounted ones better than those on the doors tbh.

Hi - I know it's an old thread but I can add something useful for anyone with reasonable access to tools & skills or those that know someone that does...

I recently bought a '68 S3 and the previous owner did a fantastic job of homespun mirrors from ~3/4" ally round bar; ally angle, and a set of 4" round MC mirrors - see below smile

Of course, with the doors on - they do restrict the door opening but they are great mirrors & aid greatly in rear view ;-)

I use the aeroscreen most of the time, but picked up a 7-specific panoramic mirror from http://www.mirrorsforsevens.com/ for driving with the windscreen and doors in place, and it works very well. No affiliation; just a happy customer.

Thanks, I think so too, unfortunately I can't take any credit whatsoever apart from buying the thing arf! But it's one of the main reasons I bought it, the black on ally looks fantastic ;-)

I'll fire some more pics into fickr & update - I'm new here so maybe start a new "hello" post ;-)

This looks like quite a good idea - would be interested to see how much visibility they add.

Has anyone thought of clipping a caravan mirror to the top of the windscreen. I fancy trying this for the odd day when its warm enough to take the doors off in Scotland.
