Guys,

Does anyone have any experience with buying the rear wing Armourfend as per attached?
I hindsight I should have fitted the film prior to fitting the carbon stone protectors but I didn't.

My question is do I need to take the carbon guards back off for fitting the film or will I get a good enough finish using the L-shaped pattern that's available??

Hi,
I bought the rear wing protection, parts for the front wing tips, pieces to stop the door rubbing grit onto the side panel and a bit more to protect the bonnet when the doors are open. I bought mine from PPG and they were great to deal with.

Of the protection I bought the rear wings were the most difficult to fit... I can't stand anything that looks less than right so I had to go back and buy some more, guess there's a learning curve. No pun intended. Mine's been on for a couple of years and it still looks good and does the job its there for.

If you need any advice I'll pass on my knowledge on 'how not to do it'.

I use colour matched stick-backed plastic on Eugene... But then I did by the stick-backed plastic first and match the paint to it biggrin

Andy,

Did you buy the L shaped protection film or the full rectangle? I'm wondering if I need to be removing the stoneguards?

Thanks
Chris

On gritty roads in the Highlands or on Airfields strewn with grit the size of Poodles, Armourfend is pants.

I stopped wasting my money a while back and 'take the hit'

You can save some cash buying the 3M stuff off the roll on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-Paint-Protection-Film-300... I'd agree the rear wings are the hardest to fit. It does take some practice to stretch the stuff round the corners without making marks.

The wing protectors really have to come off

Cheers David, I knew I should have fitted it prior to the stone guards frown

Hi Chris,
I did fit the L shape pieces, there was no point in fitting the full one unless I was going without stone guards? After trying to stretch it two ways at once and having serious grief I cheated. On the second attempt I cut the top off the L and applied it in two parts. Skillful cutting with a craft knife made for a good job and only a few mm of unprotected area between the two. I'd put up a picture but you would never see the film.
