What's the general consensus on cycle wing side repeaters? Obviously it's safer to have them from a visibility point of view but I think they spoil the look a bit. I guess this must be the case as Caterhams press cars don't have them.

I also assume I'd need them for IVA on my new build so I'm considering a cheap fibreglass pair of wings so I don't have to drill the c/fibre wings.

Any thoughts? Am I putting looks above an important road safety feature?

They are ugly but they do serve a purpose. How about fitting a set of Carillo (sp?) repeaters from something like a Fiat Punto in the headlight bowls. You will have to drill the bowls but they are far neater and more attractive than the cycle wing equivalents and you have the benefit of seeing when you have left your indicators on.

Chris

I'm doing something like that at the moment. I recon I will be ready for IVA in a couple of weeks so I will have a pair of standard IVA compliant front wings which you could borrow/buy. When do you think your IVA is?

Might tie in ok then.

I'll let you know when I have the IVA sorted to see if you need them.

I borrowed a mismatched pair of cycle wings from the factory just for the SVA. These wings had the standard side repeaters. Once my car passed the SVA I bonded on my wings with no side repeaters and then fitted round repeaters in the windscreen frame triangles

Very nice installation -- does the door interfere with them when on?

Thanks. No interference at all. And they are within the legally acceptable distance from the front of the car.

Jason,

I see in another thread you have your IVA booked. Can you drop me an email to let me know how much you need for the cycle wongs and also when you might manage to send them up to me.

Thanks
Chris

I fitted a similar dome light (approved) to the outer headlight bowls. Always got the thumbs up from Mr MOT but he never failed it without them.
Also you can see the indicators all the time when on so no forgetting to cancel them.

You have to have the courage to drill accurately and seal / rust proof the hole cut in the bowls of course.
