Hi all, i am sorely missing my caterham. 2007 Academy car WA57 OUX, black and bare alu.
Sold it in early 2009 as i was getting married and needed cash and space etc.
I think it went to Northampton area to a guy, i think called Guy who was going to turn it into more of a road car not race car.
I would love to buy it back now as i built it and miss it.
Many thanks
Ed.

Yes raced the car in 2008 academy. No crashes but covered 6000 miles ish. Bloody loved it and so sad I had to sell.

If it hadn't raced then I could almost forgive CC for describing it as a Roadsport because after all that's really what it is. But to paint an ex racer up and flog it on as a road car does seem wrong to me. Now I'm guessing by the way you wanted it back that you looked after it properly but if I bought it at that money and later found out it was and academy car I would go slightly mental at them.furious

In defence of CC (very rare for me) it is a Roadsport, they aren't saying it's never been raced

Or have I missed something

Do they have a habit of being 'economical' with the truth then?

But didn't the OP sell it to someone else who could have removed the cage and carried out the paint work before selling it on? I can't see CC wanting to put any more money into a car like this to pass it off as a road car.

Very clever if most likley entirely accidental marketing. Have a race series for cars called "RoadSport".

Surely they'd know from the chassis number what car it was. Not the best move on their part. I wonder how many ex race cars they've passed off as low milage road cars?

A big difference, Starting with the item being potentially mis-represented by the seller.

Fine if the purchaser is happy buying an ex race car but not if you believed you were buying a road car. Caveat emptor.

What if it was a road car that was raced?!? then put back on the road. If its tidy and straight......its tidy and straight irrespective of history.

But not all cars that may initially have been built as race cars have ever started a race. I know of some that have been prepared and for whatever reason, never been entered into a race. Not that I would condone the action by any stretch of the imagination but sometimes its not as straightforward as it seems plus there are a few cars out there that have started one or two events and the owners have changed their minds and obviously racing isn't for them - I reckon most people who do a trackday might have done more miles than these cars have accomplished in their brief 20 minute appearance!

Yep except that OP bought the car new as a kit for the championship. I understand mistakes can be made but not in this instance.

I've got a real wild assed idea.....

Instead of flaming this out in the internet jackals court of (in)justice, how about someone call CC and ask WTF on the car. if you really believe deception, etc then call them on it. Don't put Ted's forum in an unenviable legal position with the allegations.

Or do you have nothing better to do, after all a conspiracy theory on the Internet will lead to nothing useful usually

Thank god for common sense. Caterhams can be pulled apart, changed, upgraded, downgraded. Some of the posts are here are simply unbelieveable. Get a grip fella's.

Last time I checked Caterhams were meant to be driven.....?

So, back the OP..... are you going to be re-united sir or not? I presume the fact it was thrashed within an inch of its life in a former life, (albeit yours) won't put you off. smile
