What the king pin angle on a later Caterham is? (Steering axis from vertical)
I'm sure I could work it out myself, (or ask Caterham) but I'm being a lazey booger!

Cheers,
Mick.

Cheers, Dave. At a guess, I would have said 7 or 8. So I suppose 6 is close.
I think I'll bolt it all together and do some measuring.
How's it go? Silly Old Harry..... Oh Dear! It's been a few years biggrin

The upright's a spitfire/herald part bascially isn't it? A spitfire with +2° camber would have a KPI of 6.75°, so assuming the joints are in much the same place, and you put say -1° of front camber on, you be looking at about 10° of KPI. So I guess Dave's is about right even though it sounds quite high. What camber do you run?

Thanks guys. I'm not realy interested in the camber. I'm just want to play with wheel offsets.
I'm just interested in how close I can get the center of the tyre contact patch to the KPI. wink

Hello again. smile I have to confess to being a numpty here! After consulting the bible last night, I realised the KPI is measured from vertical, so the camber is very relevant, and would be included.
What I should have asked for is the angle of the steering axis, as this will never change relative to the hub face, whereas the KPI will depending on what camber you're running. Erm, I think!
confusedrolleyes
If you have one handy Mr I, and you have the means to mesure it acurately, then that would be much apreciated!

Cheers,
Mick.

Howdoo! I make the steering axis 9 degrees. (On my shiney new upright)
So if your KPI was 11.2 degrees Dave, that means you have 2.2 degrees of negative camber.
Sound about right?

Edited becuase I had to get my head around it! wobblereadsmile

cool
I have some weights too, if anyone's interested....

Top wide track aero wishbone with balljoint, nyloc, and bush spacer 1.090kg

Upright with special nut (Excluding upright spacer) 1.509kg

Stub axle with 13mm washer and nyloc 546g

Steering arm with bolt and spring washer 401g

hub (upgraded alloy) with bearings, spacers, castleated nut and split pin 1.380kg

CSR wing stay 978g

I don't have a weight for the lower wide track aero wishbone, as I fitted it without weighing it! rolleyes The brake people have my other one, but I'll post that up when I get it back with my new shiney (and very light)brakes cool
