So what do we think it will be? I am imagining something track orientated after they got badly stung by not having the budget to develop the 21 to its obvious potential and make it a mainstream contender.

I heard it is a GT car. I think something along the lines of what Ginetta is doing, only better :-D

It's going to be an interesting Autosport Show I reckon. Could be a radical style mid engined toy or could they even be buying into the Zolfe venture? Haven't seen any updates on that for months. I'm assuming the "next-generation Caterham Motorsport engine" is the new R400 duratec setup.

I'd bet my money on it being an Radical-esque car with a tuned Duratec.

So a Westfield XTR then. Would be interesting but I'd like to see a coupe along the lines of the Ginetta G40.

Turbocharged R400 engine (which would be a lot more than 400 bhp/ton) or 400 bhp/ton from a turbo engine?

I note that Westfield will have stopped taking orders for the XTR and the XI.

wouldnt it be queer if Caterham had bought the rights to them from Westfield?

Or even worse, Caterham make an XTR and/or an XI without buying the rights and Westfield sue them!eek

Just imagine, in a few years time pre-litigation Caterham XTR's might be valuable.

Mark.

Or a Caterham with a "silent" differential?

I'll put 50p on it being over priced. It'll be interesting to see what they've got.

I would think it's something for the track so they can run another race series to earn some decent money from.

I have it on good authority that is a new lightweight SUV based on the Matra Rancho with turbo charged kent series engine.

Caterham say:
"entirely new model"
But Autosport say:
"continuing the lightweight and minimalist styling of the iconic Seven."

Does that just mean it's another boring 7 iteration?
Or are we going to see something along the lines of the Reynard Inverter?

Would be easy enough to plonk an aero body on a CSR chassis, surely?

I used to go to school with a lad for whom that number plate would be perfect. It was the exact noise he made when throwing up.

I love the implied fantasy that the Inverter passed IVA in that configuration replete with slicing blades of pedestrian death aero endplates and pylons. Also, did they assume that the punters weren't going to notice the headlight covers are held on with gaffer tape? laugh
Smashing package though, flavour of the month at all BaT events, ain't that right Jonny? Did like the piece in Track Driverthumbup
