Xflow ignition woes... help
Discussion
Copied and pasted from Blatchat - I'm the friend in question!!!
A friend has a 1700 Xflow which has no Spark coming from the coil.
He has recently changed the Ignition Amp (Lucas AB 14) because he suspected the old one had failed and although there is 12V on both terminals of the coil, to which the amp is connected, only 0.8v is coming from the amp and going to the condenser.
I'm able to ascertain (with a meter) what is happening, but I'm unsure that I know what should be happening?
Any ideas?
Cheers
Mike

Mike,
To test the coil take the king/coil lead out at the distributor end and place it close to earth (the block)be careful as if the coil is ok you will get an HT spark. Then if you have 12v at the low tension side of the coil make then brake the connection, if the coil is good as you brake the connection it should deliver an HT spark at the king /coil lead. probably best to disconnect anything else that might be connected across the 12v supply when you do this (rev limiter etc, these can sometimes cause issues/misfires.
