Zetec Sump change
Discussion
It had to happen at some point!
Last night i smacked and split the Dunnell Low line sump on my 2.0 Zetec on my Caterham.
Now my question is; how easy is the sump to change? I have basic mechanical skills but have no access to high lift ramps or the such (i will be using standard car ramps), is it just a case of unbolt the old one, clean up the gasket area and then replace with a new sump and re-fill with oil?
Please say i don't need to split the engine from the gear box or anything equally difficult...
Heres hoping!
Thanks

Jack the car up as high as poss - or use a ramp.
Undo the sump bolts [10mm socket] remove the sump
It may be sealed with a rubberised sealant, if it is you'll have to try and prise it off.
Not certain about Dunnel sump but it may have a windage tray which catches on the oil pickup pipe
If the sump splits from the block but you can't release it completely, then you may also need to remove the oilpump.
Good luck

Hi there im currently running the same set up.Idid the same thing a few months back.Yes very simple drain oil,un bolt i think M6 bolts, replace and refit. The gasket is held in a grove on the sump straight forward. Though on mine i repaired the sump and welded a 5mm alloy plate to the bottom (skid pan).Well worth doing as i have hit the ground a few time since. Dont mind giving it a look if your local to norwich. Good Luck!!
