I have kind of come to the conclusion it is time to sell the R500 and move on. :s

One of the most exciting cars I've ever owned, only reason for selling it is I fancy getting into a Radical slicks & wings car.

Just wondering what people thought on the price? I've pitched it at the same level as the three that Caterham are selling at the moment. Mine is same/better spec than them all, but it also comes with some extra bits that would be another £2k or so to buy. (So I suppose I'm pricing under Caterham by £2k effectively...) Advert is here, input welcome:

Have you driven a Radical yet? They're very different driving experiences, I tried an SR3 RS at Brands Hatch in July and wasn't sure I'd get the same amount of fun as I do from my Caterham. It's a difficult choice, ideally I'd have both but not really an option at moment!

Yep, appreciate it will be very different from the Caterham, less playful, more physical, etc. I'm sure this is the way I want to go though..

I'd say it's priced too high, CC can get away with that level because of who they are & the perceived secuirty that comes with buying from the factory, sub 40k is what i'd ask for, it's a private sale after all a buyer will expect to pay less privately, just my opinion of course

Yep... I did actually price it based on Caterham's selling prices. They've got a 4 month old white/black stripes one up for £44k which I ignored, then two cars at £41k. Three green £41k car doesn't have the sequential gearbox, the other black one is a year older than my car. Both of them are about £3k (maybe pushing £4k) short of mine on spec, so I thought it Caterham were selling mine they'd be advertising at £44-45k, and then I chopped down my asking price for a private sale. That was the method to my madness anyway!

We'll see what happens, it's quite a small market I imagine so there will be a bit of a wait. I'm in no particular hurry because expecting another baby shortly which means all car-related activities will be on hold for at least 3 months, so won't be able to drive it or its replacement for a while.

I don't think my asking price is that unrealistic when you take into account full spec etc.

Actually just run through things... my car would be £47620 from Caterham today, plus the exhaust/interchangeable aero screen/foam filter is another £1650... so just over £49k.

I don't dare add up all the receipts in my folder :s

Just from gut feel, I think you may have to advertise below the 40k mark to get attention. I'm not sure the exact list price is the determining factor. If people see a similar price from Caterham, they'll probably start there rather than private.

Are you going to come and play in the Radical Club Cup next year then? It's fun!

Agreed there. Certainly looks like a nice car and spec but the black one at CC is basically the same but with race dampers, launch, plumbed extinguisher, less miles and a warranty. We are also coming into the winter months so demand MAY be a little slower. I'd either drop the price a tad or wait til spring.

Happy Radical hunting though!

I've got some separate interest in some of the bits - so may take those off and sell separately... then if that happens I'll drop the price a bit to reflect lower spec.

Ed,

I can't comment on the price, but I would say that it would get more interest if you took some better photos of it so that it can be seen properly.

Oh, and Radicals are awesome. Totally different to the Caterham, in a good way IMO. If you don't drive on the roads it's the sensible decision.

Take photos not my strong suit! Will have a crack at some once I've given it a really good clean and there's some decent light.

Decided to listen to advice... I've dropped it below £40k now, and will sell some of the other bids like induction/exhaust separately. So basically the price hasn't changed, just fiddled things around a bit to make it more attractive.
