Is it a K Series, or a Duratec?
If it's a K Series. Check to see if the temp sensor for the stack is above the exhaust manifold or not. If it is, theres a "Submarine" tube available from CC to relocate it.

mICK OFFSHORE AT THE MOMENT SO I CANT REMEMBER WERE IT IS LOCATED BUT WHY WOULD THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ENGINE TEMP/FAN COOLING FOR WHAT I CAN REMEMBER THE SENSOR GOES IN AT THE SIDE OF EXHAUST NEAR TO THE BODYWORK
and yes mick its the k series thanks for getting back to me

The teperature sensor picks up heat from the exuast manifold, and gives a false reading.
I had the same problem with my R300. If it's like the picture below, you'll need to move it. As in my previous post, CC will sell you the bits to relocate it.
Regards,
Mick.

Here's the part you'll need if the sender is over the manifold.
https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product_info.php?c...

Oh, and you'll need a couple of blanking plugs for the old locations.

My car would climb to nearly 100 degrees when sitting in traffic, then cool off once I started moving again. (Airflow around the engine bay restored)
So actualy my car wasn't running hot. Just a false reading from an inapropriatly located sensor.

nowt wrong with 90 degrees charlie

think your worrying about nothing at this time

the cars overcool on the road promting many to block one third if the lower grill

90 is fine in my opinion and the temp often drops to 60 when driving - hence blocking the grill

get on and drive it :-)

The dash is fed from the sensor on the water rail above the manifold, the fan is activated by the switch on top of the radiator. You can also buy a lower temp fan switch if you want....but as mentioned, the dash reading is probably 'over reading' from the manifold heat.

90 isn't a lot for a K Series, ECU kicks the fan in around 104 I think. The water pump doesn't displace much water at tickover. If you're that worried about it you could wire a switch in to put the fan on yourself....or fit a Kenlowe fan thermostat. There's nothing wrong with your car though mate.
