We've run K series cars 'til now and out little Supersport was very popular (especially with PHers) but it was getting on a bit so we've just picked up a new Roadsport 125. Really like it and 5 speed and hydraulic clutch are nice (must be getting old!) but is it normal for there to be so much heat soak from the RHS exhaust??

Admittedly I was in it for 2 hrs up from Caterham Mids but still felt warm.

Not a big deal really and so far the only thing that was less than fab. Will be interesting to see how it compares in smile rating to the Supersport. We'll soon find out as we have some PHers from earlier in the season coming back.

When I was down at caterham mids, saw quite a few Academy car bits with Smileys on them. Nice touch.

I get a lot of heat soak from mine. End of the footwell is the worst on a long trip. It's melted the glue in a few shoes! You can get heat shield from Demon Tweeks that will do the job at insulating reasonably well.

It's far less noticeable in an SV due to the increased air space.

I have a Sigma 125 SV and despite the additional size that also gets very hot.

Caterham only seem to sell heat shielding kits for the CSR on the website now, but I'm sure that you can get them for other cars.

Try seeing if the CSR heat shields fit or something like this - http://www.nimbusmotorsport.com/ProdShop2.asp?id=6...

Thanks as ever all. It was out today for first time and the lovely chap was so happy to be the first driver that a snake in the footwell and poisonous spiders on the roll bar wouldn't have made any difference I think.

Will look into it though or maybe I'm just too used to the K series - wonder how that is for pasengers.

WHYTHEM - yes, 'fraid so, have the matching set now. Quite like it - silver dream machines smile

Will post a pic of them snuggled up in Garage. Still miss the Gulf Supersport we had. That was a keeper for me!

Here's a pic of both the cars - I think the only thing better than one Caterham is two Caterhams smile

I like the number plate V12 BRO. Business must be brisk literallysmile Do you hire them out in the winter month's? People Ski, ride motorbikes etc rent them a heated suit.

Scott your new car looks ace!

When does your hire season finish? Think I'm gonna have to come over and take her out!

Hi Chaps

We're calling it a day on 27th Oct. We ran into November last year but not good for the cars and always a risk with the weather.

New 125 Sigma Roadsport is exceeding all expectations. Wouldn't have believed it at all. It's even getting the nod from guys who drove the yellow K series Supersport that I loved. I guess things just move on. Having said that the 1.8SV is a big favourite as well.

Give us a shout and we'll see what we can do.

Best regards

Scott.

Glad you like the sigma so much, I think it's a cracking enginesmilere footwell heat, can't say I find it a problem in mine, I gather the duratec engined 7's really do get warm down there but with the primaries on the drivers side that's bound to be the case.
One advantage of the sigma over the K is that electrical items such as starter motor & alternator are on the cool(er) induction side of the engine unlike the K series.
Should mean less chance of experiencing the dreaded "K Click"

Our Sv suffered from the dreaded click at the very height of summer - we just bit the bullet and got a brand new starter which seemed to sort it. Anyway, the less of that the better.

We'll have a think over the closed season but no immediate need to replace the SV.
