Noticed yesterday that I've picked up yet another screw in one of my front tyres.

I've had the 7 about four or five months now and I think this is the forth time this has happened. I've owned my old Scirocco for over six years and cannot remember ever getting any FOD in a tyre.

I can't think of any obvious, physical reason that the 7 might be more susceptible to picking up tacks, screws, nails etc.

I'm beginning to get paranoid about peed-off neighbours getting their own back for me waking them up of an early morning.

Does anyone else have this problem?

7 so quickly? Wow.

Anyone who bought a car form a main dealer will know the pain you have to go through when they try to sell you extra stuff like key insurance, acid-on-your paint insurance, gap cover and tyre insurance. 500 quid for 3 years covering 5 tyres for a new Defender. Caused me to think when I last had a puncture. I don't recall a puncture other than one on a Galaxy about 6 years ago.

7 in a few months is nuts!

Use mine daily and I've not had a flat in the 2+ years I've been driving about.

He said 'about four', 7 is the car....

First thing I thought of was the neighbours. Perhaps it's worth checking under your tyres before you drive away, in case some tosser's decided to leave you a little present.

Yep, I'm going to start doing this from now on. It's a shame I have to, but hey ho.

Have all the punctures been in the front?
Have they all been near the centre of the tread pattern?
Do you always depart forwards?
I'm sure you can figure the rest!

Strangely I've only collected two punctures in over 12 years with 7s, both nails and both in the rear. Neither caused a flat, I just noticed them when inspecting the tyres.

Stu.

(not being my normal paranoid self...)

When Blatting are you straying onto the edges of roads or near any construction sites (or paths to/from)?

Yes.
Not necessarily.
Yes.

No construction sites, but with the 7 I guess I am more likely to take "the racing line" and use more of the road.

I'll have to keep an eye on this.

Is there a limit as to how many times a tyre can be repaired?

I have had 2 nails in tyres over 5 1/2 yrs of seven ownership, one front, one rear. using all the road, may mean that they pick up a bit more crap than other cars. Four in a few months sounds a lot though - do you keep your can outside?

Either someone with a bone to pick, or else you have just been very unlucky. Most people who own Sevens will drive them in the way you do and not pick up punctures nearly as often..
