MSM are a good try. Free windscreen cover too (if you replace it yourself).

Graham, congratulation for your 7...

Had the following quotes for my 1st caterham insurance last month (road sport 2003, insurance for myself and wife). I chose Frank Pickles (3000 miles, no trackdays cover, flat rate policy - i.e no NCD required, also good discount on RAC breakdown cover)

Frank Pickles £172
Glynwood £188
Towergate £272
REIS £291
Heritage motor £357
MSM £370
Osborne & Sons £387
Footman James £400
Caterham £434
Adrian Flux £649,

Good luck

Congratulations on the new car! I tried Adrian Flux and Caterham Insurance. AF came up trumps for me: £320 for three insured drivers (me, wife, mate), which includes European recovery (handy for Le Mans!) and track day insurance with a 5k mileage cap. Caterham insurance were around £380. It obviously varies with personal circumstances, but Adrian Flux were best for me. Good luck!

That is a very good price.....

The other good thing with Frank Pickles they only charge £15-or may be £20, i can't remeber-for upgrading the mileage (off course you also need to pay the differnce in the scale)

Can't actually remember who I switched to this year, but in no particular order I spoke to:

Richard Egger
Competition Car Insurance (fairly sure that's the company I went with!!)
Adrian Flux
Footman James

If you're over 30 it might be worth speaking to Hagerty too. They did a phenomenally good deal on my TVR (£220 for 6k mileage for a 25yr old in a high-ish risk postcode!) and carried it over to the Caterham when I first had it, but they raised the age limit last year.

I also have just bought a 7 and have being playing the insurancee game! Hopefully some of you will find my results useful.
Quotes are for a roadsport 125, value £20,000, kept in a locked garage in RG19 area, and limited to 3000 miles, driven by 57 year old and wife only.

REIS (Richard Eggar) £339.93
inc 4 track days - 10% discount if club member (the above figure is without the discount)

Caterham £278
inc 3 track days, no discount available

MSM £328
no track day cover, no discount available

Adrian Flux £265
no track day cover - 15% discount if club member (the above figure is without the discount)

Frank Pickles £229
no track day cover - 15% discount if club member (the above figure is without the discount)

Footman James £203.70
no track day cover, no discount available

Hagerty
Wouldn't insure it as it was too new

Heritage
Don't have car listed on their website - I think because it's too new

Glynwood
wouldn't insure it because our house got flooded 3 years ago!!

Towergate
Sent an online request for quote - still waiting for a reply 36hrs later!!

Morris
Will insure car for trackdays @ £81 per day

So in conclusion: If you want trackday insurance Caterham worked out best (for me), if not Frank Pickles or Footman James were best, depending whether you're a club member or not. Then if you do want to do a track day you can get insurance for 1 day from Morris.

Incidently I typed the same spec into "Go Compare" and got the cheapest quote of £675 with the most expensive at over £2500!!!!

Hope someone finds this info useful

I've never understood why SO many people miss-spell Richard Egger's last name. Is there someone famous called Eggar? I wonder if that's why they changed the trading name to REIS...biggrin

Are you sure?? Adrian Flux told me that they did not do track day insurance at all! Maybe just depends who answers the phone!!! But worth checking.

Flux have just started to offer it. Shame their customer service sucks though.

Just got a letter from Footman James saying their insurer no longer covers Caterham's. Rang around and Frank Pickles who quoted £168 for 3000 miles was best figure by far - get quote online or ring 01943850999

All these polices seem low milage, are there any companies out there that would do 10,000?

Hi Ed

Any news on this point? I tried to get insurance for an Academy - ungaraged - in W9 and could not get a quote ... If you managed to get one - please let me know how / with whom you did it!
