Driving home from work this afternoon at a steady, indicated, 60mph in 6th and according to my rev counter, I'm at 6000 rpm. Or 7000 rpm. Or 1000 rpm. Or pretty much anything inbetween.

It's definitely what I'd call "erratic".

And yet it seemed fine this morning.

I must admit, however, that I'm not altogether sure how rev counters work paperbag - is it a mechanical or electircal thing I should be looking for?

And why the sudden fault, or is it a case of "they all do that, Sir."?

Mine did that too recently, not very useful when a marshall is trying to sound check you!

For me it was simply a case of checking over all of the connections.

Black and white trigger wire out of the ecu to under the dash. the only connections are the grey multiplug (under the plenum) and under the dash just before the instruments.

Interesting - I find the rev counter is fine but the speedo is erratic, so I'll be doing 60ish hehe

As said above, it should be a lose connection somewhere.

Well, it's fixed itself.

Until the next time.
