So went to CC south this morning, was there for 4 hours or so!! Looked at a Roadsport, 2 Academy cars and a 1600 K-Series Superlight on throttle bodies and have pretty much signed my life away on the Superlight. Just sorting out the money side of things and will hopefully be taking delivery within the month smile

I only drove the Roadsport and im still buzzing from it! Driving my diesel golf back home felt so weird.

This next month is going to go by SO slowly, but thanks for all the help and advice i've been given in reaching my decision.

Hiya, was the 1600K modified by the owner or something? Rare that Caterham will take a modified car in as I understand it.

I'm jealous btw, I've got a 1600K WITHOUT throttle bodies!

Yea it was modified by the previous owner, apparently the only reason they took it in is that it was done to such a high standard. They reckon its putting out about 150bhp but it's never been on the dyno to confirm.

You can probably find the owner on Blatchat, just search for the number plate. 150bhp sounds a bit low for throttle bodies, but it's all about the noise, not the power. Got any pictures? What colour is it?

Blackberry camera doesn't really do it justice, its rather bright! and well specced. Comes with the screen, and weather pack, I'm having an aero screen fitted and maybe will get the half hood. Previous owner has stuck Superlight R stickers on it which are being changed back to normal before delivery.

Apparently It was involved in a minor off and insurance company sent it back to Caterham factory where it had a new side skin, 4 new wheel arches and a few other bits and pieces. I've seen all the documentation and it's had ALOT spent on it.

As I said, I cannot wait!

Well it's fast enough already BUT I have never left a car un-modified so im sure something will happen sooner rather than later. TBH though it has most of the stuff done to it that I would do.

So short of a complete engine upgrade there is not much I can think that I would do

No trace on BC and not a car I recall seeing around in the South East.

I nearly bought that one the week before last! I bought the red supersport in the showroom instead, and yes, the month is going very slowly ...

And it's still advertised for sale on the CC website. Looks very nice so you'd better be quick!

Going there myself in 3 weeks time. Only to look though, not to buy.cry

Nice looking car as it should be for that money! Have you HPI'd it? I'm a bit of a jaundiced buyer, but it's not unknown for a car's history not to be as described by the seller. Someone posted on here about a caterham with a history not as described!

Not trying to ruin your party, but better to check before buying! Hopefully you have done it already and it all checks out.

As I said, looks a super car and a 1600 k on TBs is a wonderful thing.

£3k above private money...and make sure it isn't on the register - HPI it on chassis and number plate, not just on the plate...or ask Caterham to show you the HIP report they ran...

Thanks for the advice guys, I will get it HPI'd. I appreciate it is 3k above list price but I would rather buy my first seven from caterham themselves for piece of mind.

I will arrange to get it HPI'd tomorrow

The plate has been changed at some point so def needs to be done on the VIN.

how can you tell the plate has been changed?

Sorry, not trying to ruin your fun as it looks a very nice car, I did one of the cheapo HPI checks just for interest and it says that the reg has nothing bad against it, but the reg has changed - not unusual at all. To get the full SP you need the VIN. HTH

ah right fair enough, time will tell smile I know it was a CKD car originally so maybe had a Q plate or private plate at some point.
