CR500's vs ACB10's
Discussion
ACB10's are usually in 13". They are crossply tyres and require a more "upright" set up than your CR500 radial tyres. For those of us who use them on track only, having a radial set up when using ACB10's isn't really a problem as we probably aren't going to get the last few 10th's out of them anyway. However, for regular road use, I would suggest your geometry settings are changed and then is likely to mean a change of the de dion ears on the rear too.
I have used ACB10's on the road and find them a very tiring tyre to use. The car hops around, follows white lines and is generally very demanding to drive - and that's in the dry. Its much worse in the rain! However, if you are driving your favourite bit of road and going round your favourite corner with a bit of heat in the tyres, they are brilliant with so much grip as long as the surface is good and smooth.
For track use, they are excellent as long as its not too wet (or unless you have got decent heat in them) as circuits tend to have smooth, good quality tarmac. They are progressive with loads and loads of grip and seem to make you into a driving god - much like slicks

Why not give the new Avon ZZRs a try - specifically designed for the Caterham, and from the reports I've heard almost in slick territory when warmed up. Can also use them on the road without changing your geo settings or being pitched into the nearest hedge!
Available from the Caterham online shop.

Wow - same price as CR500s! Wonder how much additional grip these give vs CR500s? Look very tasty for sure...Available from the Caterham online shop.
