Having recently sold my R400D, I've got a 2nd hand R500D landing next week from CC. As part of the deal they've agreed to do a flat floor setup for me.

Having heard mixed reports about the setup if I leave it to CC to decide, I thought I'd see if anyone's got a good starting setup for track/fast road?

I'm a decent track-driver, and will be running slicks, happy to compromise a bit for road-use. On the R400D, Caterham's standard settings were scrubbing the outer edges of the CR500s and under-steering a bit too much.

Cheers

I'd take it to one of the race teams or FreeStyle.....

Which R500D have you bought from Caterham?

Cheers.

It's the Rosso Red one with leather seats. CC are swapping the seats over to Tillets and putting on a white decal pack to liven things up a bit. Was a tough choice to go with manual box over the seq, but in the end I decided if I wanted an uncompromising race-car there were better cheaper options... I'm after a bit of comfort after 4 yrs of Atom ownership.

if your running slicks then you will probably have to fit circa 200lb rear springs to cut the understeer

walton,

IMO you made the right choice. We took the sequential out of our DR500 and replaced it with a 6 speed because the seq is so noisy, driving it becomes much less fun if you're not helmeted. If you're helmeted, you get the loss of conversation / horrible hair combo that isn't popular with the missus, therefore the lids, and then the box had to go.

I also prefer driving it with the 6 speed, because you're so much more involved with the car then. The seq was very impressive, and would no doubt come into it;s own on the track, but as a road car I'd not want one again.

Ah OK, I ask as my mate just sold his on sale or return from Caterham, its the white one on their website, he had sequential on his which I thought was fantastic, he decided to sell after we had a bit of a drag race on a long runway section of a trackday in May and he didn't appreciate the outcome smile
