Right, the Brooklands screens have arrived, along with the "with wipers" stanchion.

So, how do I put them together?

Firstly, have I got the screen sorted:

I assumed the bit that screws down onto the car is allen-keyed onto the bit that sticks out from the adjustable screen thingy, right?

So then I just attach them to this bit:

But how?

The stanchion already has two holes in it:

but they don't seem to bear any resemblance to where the screens would go.

Caterham have, very helpfully, neglected to include any kind of instructions with the parts.

Stumped.

I seem to remember when I did mine, that the hole matches up with one of the holes in the screen arms, so you can then mark where the other holes need to go. You then drill the other holes in the stanchion. I then counter sunk them from underneath and then fastened the screen arms to the stanchion with small stainless allen bolts with the bolts from underneath and the capped nuts on the top. When mounting the stanchion, I put some bike inner tube protector under the stanchion to protect the scuttle paintwork. Hope that all made sense smile

Nothing new there, then.

Yes, you needed to measure it all up yourself. Doable even for a numpty like me, but not exactly friendly.

I used nylocs on the top, didn't look too bad.

The inner tube underneath is what I did too.

I did pretty much the same as above but tapped the holes in the stanchion and put bolts through from the top - the protruding bits I then ground off, and as other have mentioned I taped up the underside of the stanchion.
Well worth it though. Whole new smile when I took the car out for the first time with Aeros.

I've got no problems doing it, I just didn't expect to have to do so much!

The stanchion is obviously only used to fit Brooklands screens to, so why stop at just the two holes - why not go the whole hog and pre-drill all the holes in the correct positions? And why aren't there any fixings included to attach the screens to the stanchion?

Sorry, I'm whingeing.

All I need now are some "period" mirrors to match, as the carbon fibre ones I have don't really suit the look of the Brooklands.

Not all Brooklands are the same width, nor do they all attach in the same manner. And not everyone fits one on the passenger side.
If you think fitting the screens is a bit diy, wait til you get to the mirrors.
I fitted these. Meant drilling through the stanchion and in to the scuttle to accommodate the studs from the base of the mirrors. So the holes are there if I ever fit the full screen which is a) rarely and b) hardly the end of the World. Oh and the one on the pax side is pretty much a decorative feature only.

(Nice colour sofa by the way)
