Brookland's Screens
Discussion
Now then. I do enjoy going screen-less every now and again, and I have the perspex deflectors that came with the car.
However, these things
a) Look a bit naff for my liking,
b) Don't really "deflect" anything really, and
c) Are a bit of a fiddly pain in the arse to fit.
The carbon fibre kit looks very sexy and high-tech, but it's a little on the expensive side and I can't really picture it on my particular car.
So, I've been looking longingly at the Brookland's screens on the CC website. To my eye, they suit the "olde worlde" look of a clamshelled 7 and would probably do the same (if not better) job as/than the carbon kit.
Anyone have any experience of the Brookland's screens, or any general thoughts?

Saw the metal ones on a clams car and look stunning IMHO.However, these things

I've got Brooklands screens on my (clam shell fendered) Birkin.
Love 'em to bits. The transparent air brake was costing me top end speed on the track and I hated the buffeting that it caused (and yes, the wind deflectors are naff).
Unlike you, I don't use my car as a daily driver, but I will be driving it a 1,000 mile round trip in August.
A pair of Halcyon goggles will go perfectly with the Brooklands screens, or a crash helmet if it's raining.

Wife's car was BRG with a yellow stripe and nosecone, flared arches and chromed lights and the Brooklands aeroscreen suited it perfectly. That car is long gone now but I have kept the Brooklands set back and fit them if we are going touring as they are so much better than the usual aeroscreens we have on the cars.
The other benefit I found was having the sat-nav on the passenger screen with the screen angled down to trap the sat-nav on to the tonneau/scuttle. Worked perfectly and kept it pretty dry when we had rain on the way to Scotland recently. You can't do that with an ordinary aeroscreen!

When I bought mine, about 2 years ago, a UK web site whose name references Vintage Car Parts rather strongly had the best prices.
Now you tell me I think, if I'm really going to use "Katie" every day, I'm going to have to cover all eventualities.
So, heated windscreen and full hood (already got) for those really nasty days.
Heated windscreen and half-hood for the majority of the time.
Brooklands screens and tonneau for when I'm feeling brave.
You guys didn't warn me how expensive this hobby could get!

I'm glad to see that this thread has others thinking of going the Brooklands route. I think it's a great look for more "classic looking" Sevens, and if you don't need a screen to support a roof, the reduced buffeting is a Good Thing.
