As I am a new memebr to the club, I would like to know if any caterham owner lives in Glasgow. Don't seem to see any caterham on Glasgow roads! Interested to know if any one knows a local garage to recommend for looking after caterham as my DIY experience and garage space is limited.

Thank you

Not completely local but 30-40 miles away is Dreadnought Garage and they are an approved Caterham service centre. We happened to drop in there for fuel and then noticed the sevens parked at the back of the lots. Taking a look around the workshop, it certainly is a professional set up.

I expect there are a few owners around Glasgow and the Borders who may be able to help. If you are a member of the L7C, post a request on Blatchat or I can if you want?

Hi,

I have posted your request on Blatchat. I have met a few owners around the Borders area and know one or two came from the Glasgow area so I expect there will be some local assistance along soon. The thread is : http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=190658

Not sure about the Glasgow user ID, I certainly can't re-collect it but its possible its dormant and little used. No chance of it being re-issued though as even some members who have let their membership lapse and then rejoin a while later have not been able to re-activate their own account. Only a few though I believe.

WRT the point about what work for a specialist or a local garage. Caterhams are a very easy car to work on with the regular servicing (checking fluids or changing fluids, brake pads etc.) being well within the ability of most folks or there is usual local assistance available to help anyone who wants to have a go but lacks the confidence or tools. Once you have been helped and shown the way, it becomes surprisingly easy.

For me i would have a specialist set up suspension and geometry on my car and perhaps replace a head gasket but other routine stuff could easily be passed to a little local garage depending on how comfortable you are with them and your P&J

Glasgow2 - I am just North of the campsies and post on BC, jocks, and sometimes here.

An alternative garage is in a little village called Killearn - the guy owns a "proper" 60's lotus 7 and seems really reasonable - me plus one other 7 owner i know of, use him.

Depends where you are in glasgow really...

I would second this - very helpful and one of the few garages I would trust my Caterham to (or any other car for that matter).
