The oil pressure gauge on my RS170 looks like it is being fed with a pressure warning light signal, very much on/off. I am guessing this is the sender being for an idiot light but could be the gauge too. Does anyone know the story behind this and is there a replacement sender that would feed a signal to better represent pressure with a moving needle on the gauge?

My oil pressure sensor failed on my R400 after about 4000 miles - the symptoms were that it displayed zero pressure most of the time but occasionally went to full scale defection.

The sensor is exposed to high levels of vibration and it is worth fitting the replacement with a remote kit to eliminate vibration.

If you don't mind losing the Caterham dial I have been running a SPA digital gauge for around 2 years, 7000 miles with no problems on my Duratec engine.

Andrew, don't mind at all. Do you remember the thread fitting for the sender unit(s)?

Sorry no, but I do remember having to buy an adapter to fit the sender to the oil filter housing thread.

It is 1/4 NPT for the Duratec

Seems like the Spa gauge pressure sensor thread is 1/8 BSP and the water temp sensor thread is 1/8 NPT.

I think I am going to get the Spa Classic line analog Oil pressure gauge, works like the digital...

Thanks for the help..

Mechanical OPG is the way forward. Usual suspects SPA, Stack, Racetech etc
