Any ideas what I would get for my Caterham if I sold it now?

I am thinking of selling the Caterham.....values seem to be all over the place so I am a little unsure what its is worth, spec is:

New clutch, just serviced, 7k miles, New geo just done to the same spec as the R500 that set the Topgear lap time.

Any ideas? It has been super reliable and the higher torque make its very driveable.

Well, I was going on the basis it is quite similar in spec to an R500, which are selling for low 40s at Caterham. Then I lopped off £5k. I should have also lopped off a few more for being a private seller.

Sounds like a flamin nice motor, just the sort of thing i would have if money was no object!!

As for price, even if it matches / beats the R500 on spec, it won't fetch the money it deserves, cos it isn't one!
Still worth a few bob, that's for sure...

I would hazard a guess at somewhere around £26-£29k market depending, spec is very similar to my car that i sold 15 months ago, mine was full spec 2.3 duratec 280-300bhp (depending on rolling road,) race chassis / had full caged/cage and was ready to race road registered taxd/mot think cant remember exactly but think i advertised mine for £23k ish ?? was an older car than yours though and had been converted to a high standard by hwr motorsport.

would be the time of year to sell it though!

Yes it is a nice example. You don't have to rev it hard to get the most out of it due to all the torque and a lot of people come up to me and ask in disbelief "what on earth size engine have you got in there!?" I may pop it up for sale with a view to selling at a decent price if it works for me.

Was it you playing cat and mouse with a Duratech R500 on the last Odiham trackday?

If so, you car was pulling away from the R500 quite easily (I had a ride in the R500)

I believe so. Mine is dark blue. It is fast, reliable and now handles rather well too

I am there again this weekend but plan to take the GT2 down.

I am there again this weekend but plan to take the GT2 down.

We're doing Abingdon tomorrow - we thought that Odiham was a bit boring with such a long straight, although that is with a lot less power than you! (about 165 bhp).
I still can't believe how quick both your cars were, although I get the impression that a lot was down to driving as there was another new R500 there which I was keeping up with by the end of the day!

Yeah true, Odiham is a bit dull but it is close to home so I am happy to pop down for a bit of fun and I enjoy the overtaking on either side. The straight is a bit long and boring and almost pulls your head off with the aeroscreen vmaxing at 155mph! I am taking a few more horses on Sunday....530bhp to be precise

Any idea where I'd find other dates - I assume there are more as you are there on Sunday...
Just down the road from me so ideal if they had more on.

There aren't many each year. The one on Sunday is probably sold out?
They're run by RMA if that helps. Shocking drivers briefing, but the overtaking rules are good!

Haha the drivers briefing is shocking!! I like how brief it is as I am experienced on track but it may make a newbie not realise how dangerous it can be if you don't act appropriately on circuit!

Check the rma website I think they have a few spaces left...

Sorry, I thought you had posted here in order to seek opinions on what it is worth...yet you already seem to have your own idea. You need to consider the fact that it is not a factory car and will be right in the sights of a nearly new DR500 at the price you think it's worth. I know there can be a lot of debate about whether your car's spec is better than that of an DR500 but it still comes back to factory car versus non-factory. For those reasons, I would recommend you price it below £30,000.

But it sounds a good spec. and good luck in selling it.

He has listened to the opinions and said he's going to put it up for sale at a good price (for the seller) and see if he has any nibbles. Can't see what you've got the problem with? Ultimately if someone is prepared to pay 35k it will sell at that, otherwise it won't. SpeedFreakDave just knows from the opinions he's had on here that it will probably take a while/be a struggle to sell at that price... but that's his struggle, not yours!
