x/flow clutch not working
Discussion
HELP i have just replaced my clutch from race to normal road spec, but after getting car back together found i could not engage a gear, its a x/flow 4 speed live axle, the clutch fork moves about 1/2 way before meeting the clutch is this normal i have tried to adjust the cabel but that makes the pedal high and still does not push the cluch in enought to engage a gear, i have now removed the gearbox again and cannot see what is wrong, please help.
If the pressure plate is the diaphram type the release bearing should press against the vanes. When the clutch is pressed the bearing pushes the vanes towards the flywheel which releases the pressure on the clutch plate which in turn decouples from the flywheel. In that state the gear train is decoupled from the engine and you should be able to select any gear.

The kit you got from the Caterham dealer. What did it consist of? From your previous response was it just the thrust race bearing? or the whole assembly, pressure plate, clutch plate and bearing?
Also, check that the actuating arm sits in its pivot lugs properly. If not it has no fulcram point from which it can apply lateral movement on the thrust race bearing to push the pressure plate vanes inward.

should the clutch release bearing be touching the clutch cover, thank you.
Yes, check under the pedal box. There is usually (but not always) a return spring to facilitate his. When the release bearing is touching the cover the pedal should be in the normal positionHope this helps
