I have done about 10k in my 2007 R400 Duratec and it appears the cat has just gone (blocked). I believe this is the problem as the car lacks power as if blocked in the exhaust and also when I turn the engine off smoke pours of the service of the cat!!

Having just looked at the price of a replacement, I am thinking of a de cat pipe instead, mainly because I do not want to shell out on a new one if its going to block again after so low milage.

What do people think or suggest??

I think you will struggle to get through an mot without the cat. Might be worth having a closer look. I have my cat off the car and it is fairly straight throughout, I can't really see how it would get blocked.

Good luck in getting it fixed.

I built an early 2008 R400 and the cats were out of stock so I bought a by-pass pipe to get it up and running. When I was doing the post build checks, I took it to my local garage and they did MOT emissions check and it passed without the cat! Maybe it was just luck but the Duratec is quite a clean engine.

I'm in Wolverhampton. Let me know when you'd be in a position to help me out.

Could I ask why you run your car with a by pass pipe? Can I just replace the cat with a pipe and use the original exhaust and engine map?

Cheers
