hi,
Where i can i find info on the differences between all the seven style cars. There seem to be many variants beside caterhams. Are the differences in the values due to build quality or handling and performance.
I am thinking of a cheapish track toy, but with enough of performance to be challenging.
thanks

That rules out Caterham, then. biggrin

You'd be better off asking in the Kit Car forum, but do a search first, as the various choices have been discussed many, many times.

If it's genuinely primarily for track use, you may wish to consider a bike engined Seven, but (IMO) they are a serious PITA on the road (though some people swear by them).

I'd suggest that if you don't know much about the various marques - and bearing in mind your desire for something cheapish - you're best concentrating on Sylva and its derivatives (Fisher, Stylus, RAW Striker/Fulcrum, Phoenix), Westfield, the MK Indy and the MNR in the first instance.

The Sylva and its derivatives have won the kit car racing championship so many times it's monotonous and will murder a Caterham in any sort of cost-for-cost or engine-for-engine comparison and are remarkeably cheap, too, but don't expect Caterham levels of build quality and detailing.

Westfield is the 'safe' option, as they're a very well organised manufacturer with consistent quality, established design and good parts supply.

Avoid Robin Hoods at all costs (sheds) and probably Tiger, too (too heavy, and many use Sierra semi-trailing arm suspension which is unsuitable for a car as light as a Seven).

Definately worth considering the Dax Ruah IMO. They do a specific BIC.
Would be a great Track day tool with a Hayabusa, breathed on by Holeshot.

Went down to Newark kit car show at the weekend and was most impressed, value-for-money--wise, with MK's offerings. They had brought along a supercharged Honda S2000-engined car running at 298bhp. Not sure what that combo is gonna do to the weight distribution but I'm sure that power would be "challenging". Wouldn't be right to talk about the price I was quoted for a similar beast, but give them a ring and you might be pleasantly surprised.
