I have just replaced the windcreen. When I came to refit it I find I have installed it in the frame the wrong way round (dumb I know). The blue power cable is now on the side furthest from the heated screen switch. Are there any issues in extending the power cable by about a meter?

Surely it doesn't really matter what cable you use for what connection, thus no need to lengthen the cables? Just needs a current going through it from positive to earth?

That sounds right to me - shouldn't matter which way round they are.

Agreed, it makes no difference which way it's wired.

Nooooooo don't do that.

You know the little fridges you can get for your car. If you swop the power they'll heat rather than cool. The same will happen to your windscreen!

You may have a point. I have found that in my Volvo the quickest way to demist the screen is to put the airco on full blast.

Of course I was just taking the mickey.

But you are absolutely right about the demisting. I suppose this is because it's very dry air that comes out from the nozzles. An aircon works as a de-humidifier as well.

At the risk of taking this thread way off topic, that's igzackerly what happens in our big car* when you select the demist option - it sends airconditioned air to the windscreen, which then clears very fast indeed.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, even the quirky one. I will fit the screen today and wire it up and see.

Can you specify one of those fridges for any model or only the SV? I can't see them in the options list.

Yeah, Especially one without a door for the footwells. I have to peel my trainers off my feet on hot days.

Erm... don't get me wrong but why don't you just fit the screen the other way round so it's in the right place? It's only a few screws

Poppers! (I'm guessing the OP actually fitted the glass in the frame rather then the frame the wrong way round in the stanchions)

Exactly so. Never thought to check the poppers. I even tried to get the glass back out of the frame but at 150 UKP I dare not risk it. So I am going to wire the black lead to the switch and earth the blue one.
