1.6k to 1.8k conversion

I don't think you'd gain that much by just changng your existing 1.6SS to a 1.8SS.
If you are looking to give your car a load more power, IMHO you'd be better off going for something like a K05 upgrade from DVA on your existing 1.6. I did and was very happy with the end result (182bhp).
Staying with 1.6 also generally means you will stay in the under 1700cc classes for Hillclimbs and sprints if you compete.

I agree althought it depends on where you are trying to get BHP wise. If you are looking to get up to that figure (about 180), I'd be staying 1600. If you want more then you should do it on 1800.
I'd only do the swap from 1600 to 1800 if I had acquired a cheap 1800 engine to drop straight in.
