Can anyone tell me where the serial number on the 2.0l Duratec's is located (not the castings)?

Much appreciated.

RHS of the bellhousing flange, on a milled flat near the top. You never get to use the word flange enough in daily life.

Now that's very odd. I'm assuming they're not just very very faintly stamped?
Should be like this (left of shot)
Time to call the vendor (CC?) otherwise.

I don't think the CPT Duratec has it there - or at least mine doesn't. The ford number is on the front of the cam cover and there are some other numbers on the front RHS of the block.

To follow this up a bit more. Isn't it a bit odd that the engine ID would be on a cover rather than the block?

My theory . . . . I think this is the bar code version of what is meant to be stamped on the block. The Caterham Power train build number is on the block behind the exhaust, but this does not relate to the ford factory number allocated to the engine.
