I've never hired from either of these companies although as they have the same contact number I guess they are one and the same:

There are other companies that hire Caterhams if an R4/500 isn't essential...

Hi Blake

We don't do R400/R500 as for a first time hire for many people they'd be too much. I'd suggest something a bit more modest IF you haven't driven one before. The guys at Caterham Mids and South tell many tales of people turning up for a runs in an R500 or the likes and they're blown away by lower power cars and that's what they buy.

Mark on Europe in Wiltshire have an R300 I think and a 175 Roadsport.

I can't tell where you are but we're in Yorkshire and run a Supersport and a 1.8SV. For what it's worth, nobody's yet come back and said not fast enough.

We have many PH customers and always do a deal on mileage for fellow PHers. Website link is on my profile.

Hope you find something.

cheers

Scott.

Hi,

If you've not driven one before, you'll be amazed at how it goes round corners at such speed in such a benign way, and how the balance responds to your imputs, and even driving style. It's hard to describe it in words.

A lower powered Caterham is probably better for showing you the intiricacies of how it handles. And don't get me wrong, there is more than enough power to keep things entertaining in a straight line anyway!

I hired Scott's 135bhp Supersport, and the lasting impression was of how the chassis and the motor worked together. In something more powerful you might get the impression it was more about the engine.

This really isn't about trying to put you off an R400/R500 but for a first time, I reckon you'd understand more of what the car's about in something more modestly powered.

they don't have the R500 car any more.

I take the point that the 500 is going to be very fast however I have driven a variatly of 7s in the past and wanted to experience something at the next step up. I have also been looking at hire of the folowing atoms, radicals, brooke bond and the LCC rocket. I'm open to suggestions for something light fast and interesting and what will fit the bill to see in the start of the next decade.

Phone Phil Abbott at Radical and arrange a rental drive in an SR8 - that will sort out your desire for something faster wink

Grab a ride in a supercharged Atom. They may not be quicker in the bends but they feel twice as powerful as an R500. Most people have to own one once they experience the power...
