I was looking for some carbon cycle wings. Caterham, Fluke and Sevenspeed have different prices where the first is by far the most expensive, whilst Seven Speed is the least expensive with just 200 pounds a pair. Does anyone know if there is a huge difference in quality? Wouldn't feel like spending twice the price if it's just the profit margin of the shop. wink

There is a huge difference in quality. 'You get what you pay for' is very true when it comes to carbon. Go with the Caterham ones if you can afford it.

As above quality varies, I've a Fluke carbon race tonneau & in places it's transparent the weave is so poor.

All the people who made decent ones went out of business - the costs to do it properly are very high and the margins too slim.

So, if I understand correctly, if my eyes want something cool to look at, I shouldn't go for these either? biggrin

They look like GRP with one layer of dry carbon.

Bryn who sometimes lurks on BC makes some lurrrvely ones!
I bought some off him a couple of years ago, but I son't seem to have his contact details anymore. He used to sell some stuff on e-bay.
Propper pre-preg carbon, they weigh nothing! (I think he does, or did some stuff for one of the F1 teams) Unlike a lot of the crap out there.

I don't know if Caterham have inproved on the quality of theirs, as it's been a few years since I bought some, but the stuff I had on a brand new R300 was shocking! I was told it was made in China, but I can't confirm that to be correct or not. (Certainly looked like Chinese "Quality".

In fact, when I picked the car up, the salesman pointed out an imperfection in the weave on the dash.
They knew I wouldn't refuse to take it, as I'd flown over from Mallorca to collect the car.
If you looked up inside the rear wings, you could see pinpricks of light coming through!
Bit of a cheek realy. £32,000 for a toy, and I had to take seconds. rolleyes

I gave up trying to find matching, quality, pre-preg carbon for my SV, so I went all ally instead (Can we have a polisher smiley smile)

I still need some carbon bits though, if I may be cheeky enough for a slight hijack?
Tunnel top, 5 3/4inch headlamps, indicator pods, rear light blocks, sill kick strips.
I'll probably end up getting MOG stuff, even though it's mainly fibreglass filling, with a layer of carbon for looks.
At least it's nicely finished, so looks good.
