Hi Guys,

I have a half inch front roll bar and you can tell it is that size by the orange rubber on the edges. Any ideas how I check if I have a 1/2" bar on the rear, should it have similar orange rubber?

Thanks!

Er measure the diameter? (Remember some rear bars have thicker sections running through the bushes, so measure the thin section in the centre.)

I don't think the rear is 1/2" on my R400

Having said that I have disconnected it on the advice of several race setup folks to reduce understeer.

Clamp a wrench around it and measure the distance between the jaws.

That is interesting as I want to do exactly the same!

It's very common, move the links to the very end holes to make the rear as soft as possible, or remove it altogether and save the weight.

Softening the rear increases grip at the rear.

Was the difference noticeable once you made this adjustment? Don't suppose you have your geo settings to do you?

Yes you can notice the differance, it's minutes with a 12m spanner to change the rear ARB setting so have a play between sessions on track.

My geo is as it came from post build setup, boggo R400.

thats a good idea. It seems even fiddling with the geo is a quick fix, I was shown how but I am a bit of a spanner myself when it comes to mechanics !

Geo is rather more involved, if you want to get really into it these guys are great.

Nice Lambo / Caterham combo, couldn't have chosen better myself!! biggrin

By the way, don't get the Lambo geo checked, the factory setups of all road cars including Ferrari, Prosche and Lambo are quite approximate and it'll only upset you!

Haha thanks! Yup I know Chris Franklin, he works wonders on my GT2. It is a long way to go in the cat though, no screen! Don't really like that on the road but great on track!

Whats the deal with the lambo geo? I am test driving with Valentino Balboni next week, can't wait!

...which was nice... thumbup

Although Chris is clearly very skilled at what he does, there are several Caterham race teams who are much more familiar with the car and various handling traits...

Nothing wrong with Lambo geo, or Ferrari or Porsche, just that the tolerances the factories work to are not the same level that the specialists do. And that's fine because they are making road cars not race cars.
People often think these very expensive cars are set up to some fantstic degree so it's sometimes a suprise for them.

You driving your Balboni with Balboni?
