I'm just about to take delivery of a SV170 and it was a no-option build. It has 3pt seatbelts and I am going to be using this mostly as a track day car though it will get a fair bit of off-track use also.

I'm not a big fan of 4pt harnesses and I'd like a 6 point harness where the sub strap usage is optional, just leave them under or in front of the seat when I am driving on road and use them when on track.

Any recommendations out there for some 6pt harnesses that fit this description?

Cheers,

Adam

The standard Caterham harnesses can be used 4 or 5/6 point. Lots of people use Willans too.

I was looking at this Willans but it states the sub-T is permanently connected to the center lock.

My bad on the Caterham option itself, I had only seen 4pt versions. But anyways, I'd rather source a set that was available in silver first if possible and I think Caterhams are only blue, red or black. Black would be the next option..

Contact Jen at MSAR, she races Caterhams and has also a range of Schroth harnesses adapted to fit the Caterham perfectly....

I like Schroth harnesses and am on my second one in a caterham. They also come in silver and any variation of 4/5/6 point. I find their 6 point good where the crotch straps slip over the lap belt (they call it a hybrid, but it avoids a chunk of T shaped metal attacking your...) or can be under the seat with no metal banging around. Much nicer kit that Willans in my book and I have used several of both in various cars.

Sabelt 4/5/6 point harnesses are all the same basic harness with the addition of the appropriate crutch strap.

Thanks all. Getting some prices on the Willans here in the US and I'll shop around also for the Schroth.

Any opinions on comfort for 2" vs 3" waist belts?

On the 6 pt hybrid type where the subs feed through loops on the waist belts and the shoulder straps feed through loops in the subs, when you aren't using the subs, do those extra loops flap around/get in the way (on the waist belts)?

Not on mine, no, although they might be a little shorter. You could explain to Willans the use that you are going to put them to and ask them if they could make that piece of webbing shorter but attach it so that the metal loops stay in the same place.

Those using the hybrid style like that above, are you anchoring the subs at the same point as the waist belts or using a sub-bar under the seat?

One more also, does anyone know of a manufacturer that can do orange webbing?

My chassis has a separate pair of brackets at the bottom of the rear bulkhead to hold the old cloth/leather ajustable seats, the anti-sub straps (monkey tails?) bolt to those.
