I have a 50 litre fuel tank which rather dents my Seven's boot space. I do have a roadsport cage though - so:

Roofboxes, talk to me. [/Terry Tibbs]

Got a spare wheel carrier? We fitted a suitcase on the back of mine in place of the spare wheel. Other kit went in the boot, tools behind the seats and a couple of waterproof canoe bags bungeed to the rollbar (at each side).

Want to avoid bungeeing things to the rollbar as getting the hood on was an utter PITA the last time I toured with it. Come to think of it, the hood won't be much cop with a roofbox will it biggrin

I have got a spare wheel carrier yes - currently use a 50 litre squishy waterproof bag, which is an absolute swine to strap down. A suitcase would be better I agree.

Another alternative is to get someone from the club to lend me an e-bag (they're £155 all told!!) for my hol, I'm sure someone would for a donation to nuke the leuk I suppose.

Our bags were bungeed in such a way as the roof went over them fine and suitcase straps went through the rear window.

Jill Judd @ softbitsforsevens.co.uk does a really cool boot bag we used on several long events. it is the size of your cars' boot width wise, also fits through the FIA bar and straps down covering the whole top of the boot. We found this usable for 4,000 miles when we took our car to the trans-USA run we did a few years ago. Negates the need for the tyre rack, etc and worked well.

Just a happy customer, as we also bought a 1/2 hood from the windscreen to top of FIA bar from her...

A pair of pants and a toothbrush and a credit card? How much space can that take up?

Seriously, how long are you away for, and are you camping? If you're not camping, you could try a large dry bag which can be placed on top of the rear 'boot' cover under the rearmost cage supports?

Fergus - you are of course right - but I've got a woman passenger. Need I say more biggrin

Also though, we want to camp, so with all the paraphenalia, there just ain't enough room. The RE-bag from Jill Judd will solve most problems I suppose, and just picked up a half hood from BC's For Sale section incidentally.

You can fit a reasonable amount in an empty hood bag and carry several at once. Worth borrowing a spare? Don't forget the space behind the seats too unless they have to be full back. Vacuum bags keep clothes dry & clean and minimise space needed too.
