The RoadSport SV that I'm getting posesses a "full" windscreen.

When I was on the test drive I wore my normal sunglasses, but can I ask what my fellow Caterham drivers wear? Will sunglasses do, or do I need something a bit tougher (ie high impact)?

I had a look on Blatchat and read the thread of the poor sod (http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=185975), who didn't wear his goggles and then got a stone in his eye (ouch) and there were various suggestions. I investigated these: http://www.epsgoggles.com/products/viewproduct_det...

What to you guys/girls wear?

Have to say, they look good! I might invest in a pair myself smile

I have Brooklands aeros on my 7 and use wrap sun glasses in the sun and clear Wileys otherwise. I guess it depends on how paranoid you are regarding flying insects and debris, however, I do think it's a good idea to have some form of eye protection.

Cheers

Mike

Get a pair of Wiley's, they should give you all the protection you need.

On their site now - can I ask which ones you have?

If you have a full screen, there's no way you'll need anything other than a normal pair of sungalsses. If you have an aeroscreen, Wileys are nigh on perfect - but as a pair of sunglasses, I find that the seal created by their foam surrounds does make me feel hot and sticky. I always swap them for a pair of normal sunglasses when I'm out of the car.

Having been recently whacked in the forehead by a stone about an inch above my eyes in my MGB, I'd recommend eye protection of some sort to any Caterham Owner... or be wary of any car in front of you that moves into dirty areas of road, e.g. in my case moving out into chevrons to pass a car that slowed to turn left in an NSL single carriageway

I was also once hit in the nose by a stone while racing the (aeroscreened) Caterham that crept through the gap of a 'cracked open' visor.

Just invested in a pair of Dixon glasses with interchangeable lenses. Should get them later this week and will then report back. They were half the price of the Wiley alternative. I would have liked to be able to try for fit before buying but in the end took the plunge via the web.

When I had my Seven I used to wear a pair of these:

Had a twig fall out of a tree, and hit these, while I was driving at NSL in Wales - needless to say, I was glad that I was wearing them!

I prefer Dixon goggles. I have tried the wileyx ones and found the Dixons more comfortable with better ventilation and better lenses that dont scratch so easily .

and far, far cheaper !

^^

Took delivery of Dixon TEPS system today. I have to say that I am very impressed. My expectation for £42.50 was realistic. Quality looks good and I'm sure they will do the trick from a protection point of view. They may not cut it on the catwalk but that is not what I was after.

I would recommend them and UK Eyewear who supplied them.

Hi Michael, I'm "the poor sod" who got hit in the eye by a stone smile

(all recovered and fine now BTW).

Good to see you've got a proper SV seven thumbup

Are you a member of L7club? Either way, as you're fairly local do come along to The Plough at Eynsford (1st Tues) and say hi - just ask for me wink

I'm glad you're OK

Not a member of L7Club yet, but soon will be.

I will be along in the 7, just as soon as I have it (hopefully in 10 days or so) for a meet!

In the end I got some DAViDA WRS goggles (from Aye-Gee's at Welling)

Cheers

Mike

I use a pair of Oakley glasses myself. If I may believe their tests, they're good enough for me. Don't know how they compare to those from Wiley, etc.
Still, think they're ok to protect me from the debris that get catapulted from the front tires. laugh

You're welcome to pop along anyway Mike, whether you've joined yet or not.

Hope the car is on time and we see you soon.
