Alan Williamson from Capesthrone classics in Cheshire
Seems a decent bloke and a proper petrol head who into racing 7s
Sold my Westie last week and after being told by my 16yo son that he wouldnt be seen with me in an MX5 or S2K -im now thinking of coming back to the fold in a K series -eek [had BDRs and VXE and twin cam and xflow but not the dreaded sewing machine dodgy head gasket K -in fact my man mike stewart has told not to bring the 7 to him for fettling if i ever buy a K ]
Roadsport As seem to tick all the boxes and for what i want are quick enough
SWMBO wants me get a full roll cage -nice that she has my safety at heart i suppose -i prefer look of std FIA but i can see her point -also im told it improves the rigidity +++
Hmm -am i bonkers or what

I ahd a full SLR cage fitted to my Supersport R last year. And after hitting the tyre wall at Combe, I can say, it did a brilliant job, and yes it does stiffen the car up nicely and I do feel safer with a full cage smile

cheers -i guess safety is more key than looks -never pranged my previous 7s on track or road but you just never know
for road use does anyone have expereince of using half doors with deflectors and full screen -ie do the half doors make any difference to turbulence - i hate the full doors but they do cut down the turbulence -does a jill judd half hood make any difference with full screen

On my last car, tried deflectors, they are pretty rubbish, think I still have them. Not sure about half doors with a screen, only used them with Brooklands

Half doors keep the wind / spray off your lower torso and keep more stones out than without. I always use them when aero screened - never tried them with full screen on though! It's either full screen and doors or aero and half doors for me.

cant be bothered with wearing a lid in rthe nice weather -may as well buy a 2 wheeled bike instead of a 4 wheeled one

guys there's another way (isn't there always with a Se7en?)......

take your tonneau cover, unzip it with the tonneau still poppered onto the arch corners on the scuttle, and down/up to the roll bar. fold middle to the outboard / "beside" where the pax, driver sit and voila -- free 1/2 doors.

works a treat for free.

Alan's a good guy, I raced with him last year in the Magnificent 7's and he's very enthusiast about Caterham's. Which RSA are you thinking of viewing (I think he has a couple at the moment with full cages)?

The half hood does improve things a little. You may want to reconsider the full cage without a helmet though; some of those bars are a little too near your bare head for comfort - even the racers put padding on them.

my 2p worth, you could look into the roadsport cage as opposed to the slr cage since I'm sure the roadsport cage will allow you to stick a windscreen on too if you should wish to do so....

take the plunge!!

You can use a screen on an SLR caged car as well. . . . you just can't fit weather gear.

I was told by Field Motorsport that using half doors with deflectors and full screen increases your BHP by over 25%
