Evening all

I'd bought a Sterling Excel immobiliser befolre Xmas with a view to fitting to my 1990 Xflow SS and have just gotten around to thinking about installing it. Before I dive in just wanted to pick collective brains of other's who have done it.

Please bear with me ! Mechanicals I'm fine with but electrics less so (although I used to be able to wire a car stereo okay !!)and don't want to do anything stupid. Would like to do it myself though and understand the process rather than pay to have it installed....I think I'm mostly there!

Wiring:

Think I've got it sussed...

- Red wire goes to positive terminal of the battery
- green wires go to (separate) earthing points
- orange wire goes to ignition accessory switch feed
- white wires form 2nd isolating circuit (ignition coil ??)
- blue wires form starter motor isolating circuit
- the 2 snap/bayonet connectors go into aerial loop and LED light respectively

Just a few questions though:

- I note that the yellow wire is supposed to connect the drivers door pin switch....erm??? What's the score with this wire guys?

- Am I right in assuming that the mounting point for the main unit should be under the passenger dash in the cockpit out of sight (i.e rather than the engine side of the bulkhead)?

- which terminal on the ignition/acces switch is best to use/does everyone use ?

- Is it essential to solder joints/heatshrink tubing or are bullet type connectors and crimps acceptable (properly and securely done of course).

- Wiring up the white and blue wires for the isolating circuits - in reality this is the main area I'm struggling with. ...literally how do I connect up the 2 sets of wires in both cases i.e

Blue wires = starter motor circuit.
White wires = ignition coil or similar

An idiots walk through on this last point (blue and White wires) would really help (we're talking pictures here...I appreciate that this is about security of our cars so if someone would be willing to PM me with a couple of digi pictures of how they made the connections for blue and white that would really help and I promise to delete any images afterwards) !!

Thanks all - any help much appreciated and will supply the requisite pint or two when we meet at a blat for the kind soul who helps me crack it.
