Heh, they can be a bit terse. I met the guys in parts the other week when we took the car down for PBC and found that they're a decent lot, just rather stretched particularly at this time of year. The volume of cars to get ready for both the racing season and for Top Gear lovin playboys to enjoy in the early summer across seems to put a big strain on the parts bins and the people.

Good to see that Redline aren't compromised by that effect.

Re Redline
They often have parts in stock but not always - worse part about it is they tell you over the phone they're in stock just to get you'er order, after you put the phone down the guy at Redline goes to check the stock only to find out it ain't in stock!! - do they call you back and tell U - nope, when It don't arrive the next day as they promised, I immediately call to find out why, only to be told it's outa stock and I'll have to wait.
Longest I've had to wait was 11 weeks for an ARB and one droplink, and 3 weeks for Shocks.
Also sometimes if you order several Items they'll send you what they have, very Irritating, coz then you have to wait for they other bits from them, in the ARB case above I ordered 2 droplinks and ARB, and several wishbones. Ended up having to wait for the ARB and droplink B4 I could rebuild my car.
Best Idea is to ask them for a definite delivery date, and don't be convonced by the salesmans pitch that items are in stock.
Good luck

i've seen this complaint for years, 99% of time they've always had what i wanted. expect a short conversation as they've got a lot of cusotmers calling and their time's a premium.

the 1% when i couldn't get something, i have a *life* and just wait. nothings that precious that you have to abuse them on the 'net. frankly i'm sick and tired of these type of threads, they're not anyone's beeatch guys, relax and it'll all be allright on the day.

they're working folks just like the rest of us. even when i spent the last 4 years in Oz, where there's no distributor, i didn't have problems that couldn't wait a couple of days.

I won't have a bad word said against Redline. I've found them to be fantastic over my 14 years of Seven ownership.

Not used CC recently. When I did use them a lot 2000 - 2003 they were fine (that is a long time ago though) - Redline are indeed good.
I remember CC not being able to supply a new screen for months but that was due the supplier having send 100's and them all being the wrong size and cracking when inserted into the surrounds...

Well a quick update from me...

Redline delivered everything I ordered this morning so they didn't let me down and managed to be cheerful whilst busy at the same time! I know where my port of call will be next time I need C7 parts.

Oh and a message for 'Steve-B' - I am fortunate to live in a democratic society (perhaps you don't?),therefore it is my right to have an opinion - this is a discussion forum after all isn't it?
Oh, and I DO have a life BTW.

Over & out.

Spingo.

Well, to be fair, and even things out a bit, I've found CC parts to be FAB!
I live in Mallorca, and when I've ordered stuff online, the parts turn up here within a few days. Well packed too!
Maybe you just had some bad luck?
As for seeming a bit unfriendly.......can you imagine the beardie, anorack types they have to deal with? yikes I can see why they're a bit wary of getting too chatty.

biglaugh Heh heh, that's my take too Mick. Between the stress and the anorak quota (truth be told that probably includes me), it's amazing the guys still pick up the phone at all biggrin

I used to get irritated (which I would always let them know) when I ordered things and they only told me it was out of stock when I phoned / mailed them a couple of weeks later.
But, lately they always let me know by mail when things are out of stock and when they expect to be able to deliver. So now, I'm a satisfied customer of Caterham.

The great thing about Redline, is that they ARE beardy, anoraky types - so they know where most of us are coming from.

Well if I have read the OP right, he was mostly distressed that Caterham parts didn't have what he wanted in stock. The second piece was that they seemed to take that as business as usual.

This criticism of not have stuff has been levelled quite a lot at the parts dept. It's hard to know whether it's the "luck" of ups and downs on stockage or a general low level of stock (which you might expect in harder economic times).

The second part of what the OP said could well be "used to" by the boys in parts, living with not having much stock.

OR it could just be they are their normal dour selves!
