I've seen it mentioned several times on this forum that people are unhappy with BlatChat... what is the problem with it?

I've not been a member of BC long and haven't really picked up on anything. Not that I read everything wink

Heh heh! It's a very active internet car forum full of people who aren't getting out in their sevens much at the moment due to it being winter, so tensions are running high, just like most other internet car forums with that kind of traffic in similar circumstances. I just find it funny. Oh and I stick mainly to the tech talk forum - if I want a general chat I turn the computer off...

If you dare to question/query the managemnet'TEAM' you'll have your posting rights withdrawnfrown
You are not allowed an opinion which differs from their'sfrown
This is what happened to me
IMO the L7C - It's not a car enthusiasts club - it's a business and the subscribers are the customers, problem is there's no customer satisfaction manager in L7Cfrownfrown

It is a strange place where threads just erupt in bickering for no apparent rteason!

It's all about slights and disagreements that actually seem real rather than just yer normal keyboard-bickering.

I have no idea what 99% of it is about which adds to the fun.

That's why a use a pseudonym over therew and my real name here.

It's like the post above where the poster has had a huge disagreement and super strong views on what's wrong.

I disgree with his/her view on it being a business as it's a piddly little car club. But it's not something that's worth getting hot n bothered over like they do on BC.

BTW I'm not commenting that poster's disagreement with the management team as I know nothing of it.

Speaking of which, maybe having the concept of a "management team" is the problem! Not the individuals just the idea! Its just a piddly car club after all!!

I am happy with BC and am staying - I have found it a useful source of information (Caterham related and off-topic stuff) over the 6 years I have been a member.

Yes, there are spats on there, but you don't have to read them. The title is often a clue, and if you stray into one inadvertently, you don't have to go back there. I find it a bit like being in a pub - you can have a nice chat with friends or watch what is going on elsewhere while you sit there quietly [chomp]...

Blatchat is bloomin useful for tech advice (especially if you bother to search) and even if you have 3 different answers you can always come on here and ask the very excellent faulds bloke what is the right answer!

Chitchat tends to have pages and pages on which hoover to buy rather than which trackday is best but it is chitchat not trackchat at the end of the day.

Most of the members I have met have been very decent and the benefits easily outweigh the cost of membership. In the last 3 years I've had free Goodwood tickets, cheap tyres, discounted insurance and other freebies.

In the last couple of years the spats have been very limited and in my view been due to poor communication between the management and the members but it is easy to complain and much harder to get off ones arse and actually contribute. It is maybe not perfect but I don't contribute to the club other than rambling on blatchat and why should I have a right to moan when others give their time for nowt for my benefit?

I have no axe to grind but if you are new to caterhams and have or want one you will benefit from joining the club.

I like the posts on here but if you need help you will get more advice on blatchat.

Will

I admit that before it went subscription that I used to go over there every now and then and poke a stick at the natives. Very, very easy to wind up and once they get going the comedy value from the excessive blinkered snobbishness would generally brighten the day. Inevitably it was too easy and even that got boring. I think they imploded at some point in a paranoid frenzy about litigation. Hence it became members only. At least then they could wallow in their own self satisfaction and only have themselves to wind each other up... Which they seem to do nicely. Odd people, I blame overly itchy beards.

The litigation thing was a real threat driven by the debate over the arrow* debacle. I don't think they are really any more anal and beardy than any other followers of a specific marque.

Try stirring up the porsche-beards on here and it goes the same way!

Im not currently a member but I think its far more friendlier on ChitChat than it is here. Put a posting on here and out of the 1 good answer you'll get 5 more ripping the p*ss out of you.

Juansolo, you sound a complete t*t
BC never going to suit everyone but I like the diversity and the general willingness to help each other, don't find that often these days
I'll be sticking around

Not quite as easy to be fair. My post about pimping a Cayenne was seen through straight away and indeed they appeared to have a sense of humour.

As an AO for the L7 Club, who has also been the target of some of the blatchat negativity, I would say as with all things you get out what you put into it.

I use the chitchat area as a method of communicating what we are doing in the Worcestershire region, for events etc, much like the one coming up this weekend to the save Donington meeting.

I do mostly stick to the tech talk area too, and has been said else where the information, and the ability to search it is often invaluable when building or doing modifications to your seven.

I now stay clear of the threads that descend into a bun fight, as its better just to let the usual protagonists have their fun, which again is probably down to most of them being bored, stuck in the house with no ability to get the cars out due to the heavy winter weather.
