Driving in this morning in the new SV and transpired the guys doing some work on the car yesterday hadn't clipped down the bonnet. I didn't spot it, hit 60mph and rather predictably it flew off, right over the car.

Mercifully it was early so nobody behind but got a major fright and bonnet will need a couple of minor creases attended to and a bit of paint on the front edge - feck - but could have been worse and lesson learned to check every time!

I've got back from a drive to discover the clips on the passenger side weren't done up yikes Thankfully it stayed on the car. Hope you get it straightened quickly.

I did the same at Oulton Park last month. It was my fault, a school-girl error, was going to check a few things before going back on track and then got talking - completely forgot about unclipping and went out on track.
Luckily I spotted the bonnet juddering, just as I left the pit lane and realised immediately.
I felt a bit of an ass, cos I had to go all the way round at a very slow pace, but thankfully it stayed in place.
Many years back I had a jeep renegade, which the hard top bolted off and on easily. Guess what? The good lady drove off in it before I had bolted it back on. It flew off in the middle of a busy road. All the cars behind missed it and it only had a few chips on the corners.
Wish I could have seen her face though when it happened!

Carbs or airbox keeps the bonnet nicely in place with a bit of a rattle to warn you that you forgot something...;-)
