Just curious, are there any engines that are a straight replacement/fit for the 1700 xflow, without the need for a different bellhousing.
And another question is, I have a Caterham with a xflow in it and there is, what looks like a 1" spacer between the back of the bellhousing and the box - does this indicate that it is a long shaft box. If so is it likely to be from a Capri?
Some stuff I just don't know about, but we're learning all the time!
Cheers

Zetec is the easiest swop for Xflow.
This difference is simply staggering, the Zetec is much better on fuel too
There's a few special parts you'll need to buy:-
Sump
Water rail
Spigot bearing for crank
Ex Manf
I suggest you get the bits from Retro Ford - Half the cost of Raceline

You can reuse the webers - I have a new/unused Burton 60mm zetec/weber manifold whicH i bought in error [The TB's I bought cheaply [lotus esprit] are not standard weber spacing ] which mean't I had to make an inlet manifold to suit.
You'll also need 1800 flywheel and waterpump.
Hope this helps
