Just had my renewal from Hagerty, its gone up by nearly £100. I rang them they said thats the price, they are re-accessing their risk and are going to concentrate on classic cars.

Cutting their nose off to spite their face comes to mind, on top of my premium for the last 5 years, I normally spend another £100 plus pounds on trackday insurance. Stuff them, I'm off to one of the other insurance companies who still want my business smile

They've changed underwriters I believe. They wouldn't renew my policy because they've upped the age limit and a lot of the TVR people have been told they won't insure certain makes of car post-1980.

It's a shame, they offered great service and a very good premium. I just swapped the cars over on the policy when I bought the Caterham and hardly considered anyone else - they seemed to come in about the same price without such good deals on track day cover.

I had the same problem with AON for my normal road car (Jag x-Type Estate) who have now decided that all road cars now go through sub company Footman James.

Me renewal came back at over a £ 1,200 and had been well hiked up over the last couple of year (Clean Licence for years, No accidents, 15 years no claims for a 42 year old). What some might call a perfect customer. But told that I was not the sort of market they wanted any more.

Went on the Compare type website and got covered from a big name company for around £ 600

Don't give up on Hagerty because if you can get them to insure you they are great to deal with in my experience.

You can just phone up the day before a trackday and pay your 10% for cover the next day.

I have also had a recent claim and the whole service was excellent. They recovered me home, an inspector came out and agreed i could do the work myself at an agreed cost of parts plus something for my labour. All fixed and cheque for more than 10 years of premiums arrived with no hassle.

I've had a licence for 30 odds years, have had no claims since 1989, but my business was not wanted.

Unfortunately, claims have been on the increase and the snowy weather in January will have pushed up claims further, so it will be worth shopping around. If you already do that you may find that everyone is quoting higher premiums (but still wort looking).

Eggar are £100 cheaper with 4 free trackdays, and Competition Car are about £50 cheaper with 4 free trackdays. Hagerty have been great to deal with over the last 5 years, but with cheaper quotes and 4 free trackdays, which will save me another £100 on Hagerty, think its time to change.

I'd echo that. I was quite sorry to be able to renew, they were superb while I was with them and if the new underwriters would allow them to take my business I wouldn't give it a moments thought.

When I first got my previous car (under the magic 25) some reputable high performance insurers were asking nearly ten times the Hagerty quote! The track day cover was very useful too.

Surely not!

Why not try Richard Egger - includes 4 trackdays (UK and Eurpoe)

I left CCI because they wouldn't provide European cover for BHP trackdays. However, since this year's has been cancelled, perhaps that's no big deal now ......

Bluefin (aka insuremotorsport.com) are coming up with the goods for On-Track insurance. Roadsport series (including official trackdays and testing) is about £2k per year.

Only trouble is, they don't do road insurance.
