k-series misfire?
Discussion
Maybe anyone has an idea of the following problem. It seems my Caterham is constantly misfiring if it's over 4100 rpm. I tried new spark plugs and replaced the two coils for new ones.
As the car still stutters I absolutely have no idea where to look for.

edit: it's a k-series vvc / 160 bhp.

Lots of reasons for a misfire but I'd try checking inside the distributor cap and see what conditions the electrodes are like and also the rotor arm.
The other one to check quickly is as mentioned previously with the earth leads. Mine was being checked on Track n Road's rolling road for a misfire at 5-5.5k and it turned out that the earth lead on the engine mount from chassis to engine was loose. According to Caterham, this is the main engine earth point and even if the one from the battery to gearbox housing is tight, the engine mount one is more critical.
Good luck tracing it.

Tango, forgive me if I say something stupid as I'm a technical noob. Get's even harder for me if I have to translate to English.
I've got the k-series with 2 ignition coils on the spark plugs, so I don't think I have a distributor cap?
I'll see when I get the throttle position sensor and hopefully I can get rid of the problem with it. Checked the earth lead of the engine. Didn't know I had another one, but I'll have a look at it when the weather gets a bit better.

I would tend to agree with crank sensor or manifold air pressure sensor, which has given exactly the same fault as that before. From my experience TPS failing tends to give more subtle symptoms unless it's completely died.
Easiest thing to do is start unplugging things and seeing if they make things worse or better

Or stil some problems?
Now I'm having a problem with the idling again. After installing, I had reset the tps by turning the ignition on, pressing the gaspedal for 5 times and turning the ignition off for at least 10 seconds.
When stationairy, the car occasionally even stalls completely, unless I keep the revs up a bit. On the move I have no problems whatsoever. Still getting bloody annoying, my Caterham ownership. Got to keep smiling. Got to keep smiling, no stress...

Thanks, but I had that one replaced already.

Got so irritated that I went outside and disconnected the battery for 20 minutes. Same problem after 10 minutes of idling so I played a bit with the gaspedal in the car. Suddenly the car revved at 3k rpm and stayed there. Removed the bonnet, and pulled the gas cable. Immediately a perfect idling.
Ah well, I have a spare cable. Going to change it coming Friday and hopefully I can finally enjoy the real Caterham experience after 7 months of fiddling.
