Insurance suggestions?
Discussion
I've used Adrian Flux since owning mine as they've always been the cheapest. I'm 37 and pay about £250 per year for a 5000 mile per year policy on my Superlight. I'm pretty sure they don't offer track day cover however. Having never made a claim, I couldn't comment what they're like when one arises....
Flux seem to be in the lead currently, but some of the others include track cover for not an awful lot more.
Hmm, not really too sure on mileage. Is 3,000 going to be too stingy for weekends and evenings plus the odd track day? I did well over a 1,000 between August and October, but that was new toy syndrome.

My current insurer has just decided to stop insuring anyone under 30, so I'm looking for a replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Would be even better if I could find a company that provided some level of track day cover too, but not essential.
We do have markets available. I can someone to call you if you pm me your number.Would be even better if I could find a company that provided some level of track day cover too, but not essential.

Hagerty Insurance, they are all petrol heads and I've had good service for the last 5 years or so. They provide trackday cover for 10% of your annual premium per trackday, including Euro trackdays, but not the ring.
I'm over 50, so don't know how competitive they will be for you.
Oh the irony! I'm over 50, so don't know how competitive they will be for you.
I've been off singing Hagerty's praises for ages. The quote Hagerty gave me for my previous toy (a TVR, bought when I was still under the magic insurance-friendly 25) was a tenth of what some companies were quoting me. The service and price were so good - particularly bearing in mind the cheap track day cover - that I stuck with it when the Caterham came along, even though Adrian Flux was now marginally cheaper. Now Hagerty's decided not to cover under 30s at all, which is the whole reason I'm on the look out for a new insurer...
I'm getting quotes around the £360 mark, which is somewhat up from last year but still seems like good value when you consider the performance of the car in question and the area I live in.

One advantage to being an old git then
Very much so. I've always cheated by owning kits or (modern-ish) classics, but you wouldn't believe some of the quotes I've had for mainstream performance cars. I could insure an all-rounder like an M3 for £2,000 or a more entertaining Caterham plus a newish reasonably specced Focus for under £800 combined. That's why I've owned more than one car ever since I was about 20.Gassing Station | Caterham | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
